What Could Be Better Than A Stroll Through Closed Loop Park?

Closed Loop Park features a self-guided tour of plants, garden management techniques, and recycling and composting methods and equipment. On clear days the site also offers views of Mount Rainier and The Olympic Mountains. The park is handicapped accessible.

Closed Loop Park is located in Thurston County at the Hawks Prairie Landfill, just off Hogum Bay Road. See the map below for more detailed access directions.

The demonstration garden is open to visitor's year round except New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, during Hawks Prairie Landfill's hours of operation.

WSU Master Gardeners and Master Composters work in the garden as follows:

  • Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April through October
  • Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from mid-February to Thanksgiving

They are more than happy to answer gardening questions you may have or discuss composting techniques and equipment.

If you have a question about visiting the park, you can contact the WSU Thurston County Master Gardeners.
