Trouble shooting green cone problems |
Odors can be controlled by removing excess or inappropriate waste and providing adequate fresh bedding. Adding a thin layer of leaves or dried grass to Green Cones will reduce odors. Adding cheese or other animal products may increase odor problems. Fruit flies are more of a nuisance than a serious problem. Minimize fruit flies in a green cone by adding a thin layer of leaves or sawdust over the decomposing waste. Rodents can be a problem. The easiest way to keep animals from entering a Green Cone is to keep the lid shut and meat wastes out. The underground basket from a Green Cone may be covered with wire mesh hardware cloth to prevent pests from entering, if that becomes a problem.
